Enjoy the pleasures of both land and sea from a centrally located, 2,500-square-foot home in a quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of Carmel. Sparkling clean and freshly painted, this spacious 3-bedroom, 3-bath house has new carpeting throughout and an open floor plan that lends itself to congenial socializing.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted by complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine or sparkling cider, passes to the renown Spa on the Plaza in downtown Monterey, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, and a basket of local information. There is a basket brimming with local information about Carmel, Carmel Valley (wine tasting country) Pebble Beach (home of the AT&T and the recent U.S. Open), Big Sur, golf (over 15 courses in the area), State Parks, area attractions, shopping, (Safeway, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, and Costco are all within 10 minutes), Monterey Aquarium, Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms.
A large living area -- with a wood-burning fireplace and baby grand piano -- opens up to a deck that looks out to rolling hills and a grassy meadow teeming with wildlife. A cheerful kitchen is equipped with everything needed to easily entertain 10 or more people in the adjacent dining area.
The light-filled lower level features glass doors opening up to a fenced back yard. A comfortable family room on this level, with a pull-out sofa bed, provides a separate area for the kids to play games or for TV watching. There is also room here for a queen size aerobed for optional sleeping.
Restful meadow views are also afforded from the first-floor master bedroom, which has a master bath with separate tub and shower. A third bedroom on the lower level has a king bed and its own bathroom. An additional bedroom and bathroom are on the first floor as well.
The house is equipped with wifi, high-speed internet, unlimited local and long-distance service, 40-inch plasma TV with DVD/VHS and a stereo system. Washer and dryer are on site as is all the equipment you will need for outdoor excursions: beach chairs, umbrellas, a picnic basket and coolers. You can cook out on a gas grill, and firewood is provided for the fireplace as well as for beach fires, which are permitted on nearby Ribera Beach. The garage is not available for cars, but there is off-street parking for two vehicles and plenty more parking on the street.
Ideal for one or more families or several couples, this is a welcoming place where you can relax and feel at home. For nature lovers, a 5-10-minute walk will take you to off-the-beaten-path places never discovered by most tourists, including Ribera Beach and Carmel River Beach, where the Carmel River empties into the ocean. Also within walking distance are the historic Carmel Mission and Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch. Point Lobos is minutes away by car.
Pack up the family….a Magical Getaway awaits you in Carmel.

"Had a fantastic time. Such a beautiful house and setting and such gracious hosts! Saw seals on a feeding run chasing fish into the shore...about 30-40 of them, and the pelicans were loving it too! Thanks so much!"

"Marc's 70th Birthday
What a wonderful time the 10 of us had celebrating my husband’s 70th Birthday! Two of our three children & their families joined us - What a surprise!
Your beautiful home was a perfect fit and a perfect location. We enjoyed the Mission, hiked around Point Lobos - all just minutes away - and we enjoyed your two generous Aquarium passes - Thank You! And our daughter-in-law treated us to beautiful piano music - another plus! Wonderful memories were made here - Bless You"

"Coming from big city this is exactly what we needed, we felt super relaxed and at home with our young kids here at the Sanctuary, so much better than being in Carmel town in our opinion! Many thanks for offering your wonderful home to us - wish we could have stayed longer!"

“Carmel Magical Getaway
Fantastic location. We were attending the Bach Festival. Property was close to venues, but removed from traffic. Beautiful, relaxing views. As advertised, close to probably the best beach we walked on during our 1-week stay. Very comfortable for three couples. Well equipped. Our party had a family loss the week before. Owners were very accommodating when our party increased from 6 to 10 people so the family could share remembrances on the full-length porch overlooking a lovely view. Saw fat bunnies, a couple stags, a covey of quail, and a family of quail with little ones. Lots of birds. Very quiet. Owners checked several times to see if there was anything we needed, without being intrusive. Very nice people. Very generous. BTW - "Magical Getaway" - Didn't initially make the connection between the location name and the extensive collection of paraphernalia and books on magic. Owner is a professional magician! Restaurants: Mission Ranch - $$$, but not as pricey as we expected. Yes, many of the menu items look like American "comfort food", but the preparation is exceptional. Our foodies were very impressed. Beautiful location. One of the views is across to the ridge where the rental is located. Cindy's at the Aquarium - $$$. Did not expect a restaurant at a tourist location to be outstanding, but it is. And you can't beat the views of Monterey Bay. Quiet. Excellent service. Excellent wines. Refuge Spa recommended by Sunset mag was a big hit. Only $109 for massage and plunge pools in a beautiful setting. Nepenthe in Big Sur, 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach, Monterey Fisherman’s Wharf are, of course, all must sees. If you are into music, the Bach Festival is wonderful. Not only are the music and international performers first rate, but hearing the concerts in the different venues is a real treat. The All Bach Organ Concert in the Carmel Mission was amazing.”

“Dear Richard and Janet - We had an absolutely wonderful time staying here! Everything was so perfectly provided that we felt at home right away. The views from the deck are great and we loved playing the piano and going through the truly vast book collection. Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful home. We would love to visit again.”

“A Happy Family Home Near The Ocean
Wonderful family time in a perfect home. The owner greeted us and took us on a tour of the house. Very helpful. The layout worked great for the 9 people in our family.”

“A Wonderful Week For The 9 Of Us!
Our two families with children ranging in age from 1 to 9 spent an extremely enjoyable week at this "magical getaway". We enjoyed the location on the outskirts of Carmel with easy access to everything -- the beach, Point Lobos, downtown Carmel, Monterey, even a grocery store and other helpful shopping options. The house was comfortable and felt like home, the owners were extremely accommodating and all of the little amenities (aquarium passes, firewood for beach fires, etc.) made staying there a breeze. Would love to go back!”

We all had a great vacation. We have stayed in this house before and returned because of the location size. There was plenty of space for 5 adults and 2 children. The lower level family room is a definite bonus. The short walk to the private beach is wonderful. If possible, we will be back!”

“You Just Feel At Home
We truly enjoyed our stay in this warm and cozy house full of light. The layout is ideal with kids as they can have the bottom floor. The beach and trails nearby are fantastic. The landlords are very friendly and welcoming. We forgot one of our daughters' teddy bear, and they made it super easy for us to get it back. It's the ideal family house.”

“Very Spacious, Close To Beach, Generally…
We had a great experience staying here. There was plenty of space for the kids to play, and even some board games the house had for us to use. Close easy walk to the beach, which we loved! Seemed like they have done some updating... bathroom floors and faucets. But couches/chairs, bedspreads, and curtains very old and could be updated. Older kitchen, but all appliances worked great. Plenty of towels and dishes. Had a small issue with a few ants, but the owner was very nice and came to take care of it right away. It was a great place for our family for the week, and we would stay here again!”

“A Taste Of Big Sur
We couldn't have asked for more. This spacious house was extremely comfortable and well-supplied for our extended family group, including two toddlers. Shopping is nearby. The elevated back deck overlooks a wooded state park, with deer and other wildlife. A short 10-minute walk takes you to a stunning sandy beach, with huge rocks, reminiscent of the Big Sur coast. A 30-minute walk takes you to Point Lobos State Park, with more dramatic coastline and many short hikes. We stayed there during 4th of July week, when the rest of Carmel and the Monterey area were overrun with tourists, but our house was secluded from all of that--really a little paradise.“

“Great House For Multigenerational Family Gathering
Family with baby We rented this home to celebrate my birthday with two adult sons, their wives, and a baby grandchild. The Myers were wonderful hosts. We loved the large living room where we could all hang out together. Janet even installed a baby gate for us. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. The kitchen was great! All pans, dishes, serving utensils, even spices were provided. The beach was nearby and stunning in its beauty! It was easily walkable with many trails, clean, white sand, and even benches to sit on! We can't wait to visit again!”

Walk to the beaches. Cruise town. Sit on the deck and savor the view across Carmel. Share a meal we make together in our kitchen. Zip off to hike in Garland or Garrapata park. How to choose? I returned here with 2 women from our visit 2 years ago and several new-to-this-house friends. The returnees claim it to be just as fine as in 2010. The newbies can't wait to return - with their families or friends. Open the front door and you are hooked. Listing is accurate, home is clean and well-furnished, and everything functions. Good for families, couples, and groups (such as book or hiking). Casanova Restaurant (5th & Mission) in Carmel is quite nice for lunch. Trees growing out the roof are icing on the experience.”

“Great Home By The Sea!
The great meadow view off the balcony and master bedroom, gives you an immediate peaceful feeling when you walk through the doors. We saw rabbits, all types of birds, and even a bobcat. The only thing that would have made it better from a location perspective, is if it had an ocean view...but we were close enough! We walked the beach trail and watched the sunset almost daily (just a short walk to get to the path). It's a large, comfortable home in a quiet setting ... five minutes drive to Point Lobos for hiking or biking, or to Carmel by the Sea for shopping or dining. Grocery store and $1 movie rentals close by too. We were greeted with a personalized welcome note from the owners, who also left us a wonderful bottle of wine and sparkling cider in the fridge. By the time we left, my son had figured out how to play "Don't Stop Believing" on the piano! We really enjoyed the home and would definitely go back again.”

“Location and house were perfect!
We all loved the location. We could walk to the beach whenever we wanted or we could sit on the balcony and look over the meadow. The home was great. There were games, books, binoculars, and even beach towels. We ate in sometimes and there was everything anyone would ever need to cook a meal. We would like to move in and live there permanently, but alas someone else gets to enjoy this great house.”

“Fabulous house and hosts!
9 adults and 3 babies (2 and under) came for a wedding at the Carmel Mission and spent a fantastic three night weekend in this beautiful home. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable in their home. They ensured everyone had a bed (air mattresses for the few extra bodies in our party were already prepared for sleeping when we arrived), and there were stuffed animals on every bed which amused the kids to no end. We also had a small hiccup of being "stuck" in the house our last day due to Hwy 1 being closed for the Big Sur Marathon. The owners took extra time to find out the options we had for getting out of the house, and were quick to assure us our check out time would be extended because of the road closure. I would come back here in a heartbeat, and will recommend this home to anyone who needs accommodations in Carmel!”
