      Welcome to “The Seventeenth Street House"! The house accommodates up to 10 adults plus 4 children with a maximum of 4 cars. The Pacific Grove Vacation Rental Permit for this house limits the number of parking spaces to 4 cars on the street. There is no off street parking. Car pooling is necessary to accommodate the City parking requirement.

      **For more details about this home, see the Sanctuary Vacation Rentals website or call our office directly.

      This spacious 3,000 square feet, 3-story home has been completely remodeled with great attention to detail. The Seventeenth Street House is a perfect home for family reunions; however due to the sensitivity of our neighbors and limited parking, the home is not available for wedding parties or wedding groups.
      It is located in the charming seaside community of Pacific Grove -- known as "Butterfly Town USA" because it is a stop in the migration of the Monarch Butterfly. It is also called "America's last hometown" for its small-scale, old-fashioned downtown of locally owned shops and businesses.

      Upon your arrival you will be greeted by complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine or sparkling cider, passes to the famous Spa on the Plaza in downtown Monterey, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay.

      On the first floor there is a solarium with views of the garden and fountains from each end as well as an open floor plan that includes a dining area with a large wooden table. There is a formal parlor-living room with a fireplace room crafted from local Carmel stone -- perfect for sitting on the comfortable couch and relaxing with a glass of wine or curled up with a good novel. There is also a game room/library, a fully equipped kitchen, a laundry room and full bathroom with a claw foot tub and separate walk-in shower. The library can have a queen size full height aerobed. One small bedroom with a twin size bed is also on the first floor.

      On the second floor there is a TV room with a comfortable couch to watch a movie or sports. The billiard room has a full-size pool table and is located next to the TV room making it perfect for socializing and gathering together.

      Also on the second floor are 3 bedrooms, one with a king bed which can also become two twins, one with a double bed, and one with a queen bed. There is a full bathroom with a shower-over-clawfoot tub that is accessible to all three bedrooms. Four fold out sleeping mats are available to put into various rooms for children and single sleepers.

      The third floor is the Master Suite that is like being in the treetops with beautiful sunsets and sunrises that can be seen from the windows and balcony. The master suite has a large sitting area, master bathroom with deep soaking tub, separate shower and bay views. The king bed can also be broken down into two twins if preferred. Another twin bed is located in the seating area. You can count on a great night sleep high above the treetops with the salt air smells wafting from the nearby Bay. This space is as big as a studio apartment.

      We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this wonderful home with you. This charming-turn-of-the-century house is only two blocks from the heart of Pacific Grove with award-winning restaurants, cafes, bakeries, coffee houses, a movie theater, art galleries, a bookstore/coffee house with live entertainment and numerous specialty shops including vintage clothing, antique stores, an ice cream shop as well as a Monday Farmers' Market featuring regional organic produce, local crafts and food vendors. Whatever the occasion might be, we are excited to share this special home and the beautiful surrounding area.

      “A+++++
      We are so happy to have stayed in this lovely home. The location was perfect! We walked our dogs down to Lover's Point daily. It was close to Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf and the Monterey Plaza Hotel where we attended a family wedding. There was a grocery store just minutes away and lots of cute little restaurants that were walking distance. Very dog friendly area which we loved. The house had everything we needed, we just needed to buy groceries. It's a very large home, so more than enough room for all of us to stay there comfortably. Nan was wonderful, we were greeted with snacks and a lovely bottle of wine. She was more than accomodating to our family and pups... If we have the opportunity, we'd love to stay there again.”

      The trip was great from start to finish. The management company was very helpful and communicative and the owner was great, provided a tour and extremely nice. Couldn't have asked for a better place for our family and friends!”

      As long as you can do stairs it is a great house. Plenty of space and very comfortable. Bedrooms do not have TVs but that was fine (kept the kids engaged with us) Super location quiet street and just a few blocks to the beach (Lover's Point) Restaurants and shops. Owners very easy to work with.  Note the plumbing is like the house turn of the century so it required sensitivity. Great stay!”

      I cannot imagine a more perfect venue for a vacation gathering in the Monterey Peninsula area. Every possible amenity was available for cooking, sleeping, relaxing, dining and playing together. The view from the third floor master suite was amazing! Every room has its own personality and hospitality. It was so clean and well-maintained, and the owners were friendly and helpful. It is walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants and Lover's Point, and a short drive to Asilomar Beach to watch the sunset over the bay (we watched it twice!) or go on the 17-Mile Drive. It was a photographer's delight!”

      “Wonderful House!
      Our family just returned from a weekend at The 17th Street House in Pacific Grove. This was our second rental of this property, and we found it as lovely and comfortable as we did the first time. The house provides a large family with different activity areas: you can gather in the spacious kitchen while another group plays pool upstairs; watch a movie in the TV room, or read a book in the bedroom retreat on the third floor; sit in the parlor or around the fireplace, just to talk or play board games. The owners are great - helpful, responsive, and good people!”

      This is one of those houses out of a story book: grand, beautifully furnished, historical, homey, well kept, spacious. There is a nice pool table on the second floor and big island in the kitchen where everyone gathered in the morning. The owners were right nearby to answer any questions we had. The top floor had a wonderful view of Monterey. We could easily live right there. Room enough for several families and then some. I had a wedding party nearby and had my friends all stay together in one big place. Best decision I made. Flipkey:, Sanctuary Homes and the owners have their acts together.”

      Home was lovely. We enjoyed the large kitchen, and as usual, that seemed to be where everybody gathered. We loved the solarium with the long dining table adjacent to the kitchen, but the chairs were a bit flimsy for a family whose children are 6 feet + tall. The pool table was even more popular than I had anticipated. Was grateful to bring my old dog with me. Nice Side yard to sit out and watch her as I sipped my coffee. Glad we brought the bikes; kids made frequent trips into town, and along the bike path. Home was well appointed, from kitchen to bathrooms, making it a truly carefree vacation for me.”

      My wedding party stayed here for 3 nights during the weekend of our wedding. The house is very spacious, comfortable and well-stocked. Everything you could possibly need, they probably have it. The kitchen in particular was very large, which was great for cooking meals together. There are also plenty of entertainment options (pool table, TV room, a closet full of games as well as walking distance to shops and the beach). It made for a great bonding experience! The owner and their assistants are extremely helpful and accessible. I would definitely recommend this house for a large group!”
