The Monterey area was magical to me then and remains so today! Thank you for finding such a wonderful place for us to stay."

This house was absolutely fabulous. It was impeccably maintained, down to the last detail. The location could not be better for Monterrey. We were able to walk to all of the local attractions and the ocean, with its breathtaking promenade , was just across the street. Perfect for children and adults. We would definitely rent this house again or one in another location managed by this company. Thank you!"

You can whale watch from the deck of this elegant home. We spotted the spray from a small family of greys and the playfulness of the pack of otters in the bay. We parked the truck in the driveway for the duration of our stay and walked/biked/rollerbladed everywhere! Our professional chef was enthralled with the kitchen amenities. The beds were the most comfortable we've ever had, well appointed w/just the right coverings. Next visit we'll use the fireplace, futon and barbecue. We were taken in by the stunning decorations and knew we picked a classy place!"

We loved the House and the Area. The view from the balcony's are awesome. Less then 1/2 a block to the ocean and a very short walk to tons of shopping and restaurants on Cannery Row. The house was very clean on arrival and everything we needed was provided. It was a great bonus to have a garage to park in."

Very nice house. Looks just like the pictures. Comfortable and clean. It is clear the owners have thought about the comfort of their guests! The kitchen was well equipped, they even had knives that were usable and very nice stove and pans etc. The house manager Eryn secured us a third ticket for the aquarium at a reduced cost, they just charged my card on file and had it at the house which made it super easy. You can easily walk to the aquarium, etc. Because you are on the Monterey end of Pacific Grove."

Stayed here with friends and had a lovely visit.  The property was clean and well maintained.  Our property manager responded to our questions and needs and was very helpful.  We did not find the futon in the living room very comfortable as a second couch, but the rest of the accommodations were lovely and comfortable.  I would certainly return to this rental.  The view was fantastic and we even saw porpoises and whales with my binoculars!”

My family was visiting my brother-in-law from San Francisco and decided to meet up in Monterey. We have four children (ages 2, 4, 6, and 8) plus the four adults and we had more than enough room in this beautiful home. It is equipped with everything you could ever possibly need (and even things you wouldn't think you would need). It is evident that the owners/managers have put a lot of thought into what makes a vacation home comfortable and convenient.”

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights, and it was just what we needed. You can't get a house much closer to Cannery Row, yet be located in a nice, relatively quiet neighborhood so near the water. The house is near perfect. It is one of two units, but at no point would I have thought that had I not seen it. Bring some binoculars so you can watch the fishing boats and sea life in the kelp from the balcony.”

The service was unusually nice, although we wish that the free aquarium tickets (now being shown above) were available to us when we were there last month, since they're quite expensive. The location is sensational, about a block from the water and easy walking distance to the aquarium and the Cannery Row stores and restaurants. We had a lovely multi-generational family trip, despite three days of rain. The main floor and fireplace were so welcoming. We had a fire going every day it rained. The living room view was charming, and the living room couch, which seats three, was everyone's favorite spot. The living room futon, however, is too low and is uncomfortable for both sitting and for sleeping. It needs to be replaced, as do the mattresses in the master bedroom and one other. The beds were uncomfortable for 4 of the 6 adults. The wi-fi barely works. Peet's coffee nearby in Monterey and the hotel down the street have reliable and rapid wi-fi service if needed.”

We hosted a 25th anniversary reunion with 2 other couples and thoroughly enjoyed the proximity to bucket-list attractions like Big Sur, Point Lobos, the Aquarium and wine tasting rooms. Restaurants in Pacific Grove and Carmel were outstanding, as was our ability to buy the freshest seafood right on the wharf and cook it up in our home away from home. Thank you!”

“We so enjoyed our stay! There were three couples and there was ample room and the house was beautifully decorated and well supplied. There was also a information about the area in the house which is always so helpful. We came to do the 21 mile walk of the Big Sur Marathon so to be able to relax after and enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean from the balcony or living room was wonderful. The lay out of the home was perfect and everyone felt they had privacy. The house is very close to the walking paths by the ocean and we were able to walk down and see the harbour seals or walk to Cannery Row a short distance away. This is an amazing home in an amazing location!”

      “Excellent Location And Lovely View
We had a wonderful time. The property was in a perfect location for what we wanted to do and the view was lovely. We were able to walk to the beach, aquarium, wharf, bike rental, shops. We could just go 1/2 block to the corner and see the bay and the seals. The home was very enjoyable. The bedding was comfortable and the bathrooms, showers were good. The kitchen was equiped with anything possible you might need. We cooked a wonderful Easter dinner there. Also, we were pleased to have beach chairs available to use. All in all, we thought it was great. There were seven of us and felt right at home.  Thank you for a wonderful experience for our daughter, husband and three grandchildren ages 14, 12 and 9 plus us! You were great to work with.”

Directions to enter the unit were invaluable.
Would prefer not to have the dining room table set. We were there for a stitching weekend and did not feel like we wanted to clear the table in order to use it. Also to turn on the fireplace there was not remote so that was not clear. Otherwise we had a good time.“

      “Great Location and View!
I booked this house for my groomsmen for my wedding last month. I stayed with my family right next door, but frequently hung out with my groomsmen in their house. They loved staying here. Both properties are similarly well-appointed, the house is comfortable and spacious and the view is great. The location is great as you're just steps from Cannery Row and also very close to Pebble Beach. The ocean-side walking path is literally out the front door. Highly recommended!”

“Our Stay At The Sanctuary Really Did Renew Our Mind, Body And...
The house was very elegant while still feeling cozy and comfortable. We had two small children with us so we did have to do a little child proofing but after that was done the layout worked well for all of us. Sitting on the decks was one of our favorites spots. The views were inspiring. The location was really convenient and allowed us to walk to most of our destinations. The kitchen was well stocked and fun to cook in. It was hard to leave such a beautiful place.”

      “Too fast.
The home was very comfortable. Plenty of room and the view of the ocean was beautiful. The location was very good for walking everywhere. The issue was when watching the TV there was humming, and a line through the TV, in the family room. Also, the same TV, DVR, did not work for recording. One last item was check out time was too early. We did not realize the time until we arrived.”

      “Absolutely Fabulous
Words cannot really describe how wonderful this house is. The location is terrific and easy walking distance to the aquarium and the local shops, and the coastal pathway is just over the road. I loved the fact that you could see sea otters and seals from the upstairs windows. The house was well stocked with glassware, crockery and cutlery and we found everything we needed. The welcome bottle of wine and the cheese that were left was a lovely touch. The beds were extremely comfortable and the house was spacious enough to cater for 3 couples. It was very pleasantly furnished and the dining table looked so beautiful when we arrived, we didn't want to disturb it. If you choose to stay here, you will not be disappointed. As a footnote, they no longer require you to strip the beds when you leave.”

      “Outstanding Rental
While this rental is a bit pricey, you can't beat the location if you are interested in visiting the Monterey aquarium. Also the ocean view from the living and dining rooms is very nice. The home has modern appliances and is especially nice if you have small children since a stroller and highchair are available. The rental agent will pick up and return a crib rental if necessary. When we thought we might have to check out later than 10 am, the cleaning crew was willing to accommodate a later departure. The only thing we found less than optimal was the lack of a yard and the requirement that we strip the beds and place all linen and towels in the laundry room. However, a welcome bottle of Merlot provided a nice touch.”

This place was so nice. The view of the ocean was breathtaking and you can see it from the "wall" of windows in the living room/dining/kitchen area. The house was very clean and felt cozy. We liked that two of the bedrooms were downstairs with the master upstairs since it helped to provide more space and privacy with two families. They provided nice welcoming touches with the wine and cheese and the two aquarium passes. It's in the perfect location - just a few minutes walk to the Monterey Bay aquarium and shops. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.”

This place is fantastic. Super clean & cozy with beautiful views of the ocean. It is a 2 minute walk to cannery row, and gorgeous paths along the water. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the kitchen/dining/living room were perfect for us to spend evenings in & cook. I would highly recommend to friends & family.”

      “Pacific Grove: Our Get-Away Locale
We have been visiting the Monterey Peninsula for years and this year decided to try Sanctuary Vacation Rentals. While all previous experiences have been good, SVR was exceptional. From the time we viewed the property on-line to the reservation process, to our actual stay, everything was handled professionally and smoothly. There were no glitches. The home was beautiful - decor, convenience, and comfort. Truly like being in 'our home away from home'. The kitchen is beautifully appointed, the bed was very comfortable, the technology worked perfectly, and the views of the bay while having breakfast and dinner were wonderful. And, most importantly, everything was clean and inviting! When in PG, we like to visit local restaurants, walk along Lighthouse avenue and Ocean View Boulevard, and, generally, just loaf. We look forward to our next visit with SVR when in Pacific Grove.”

“A Short Walk To The Beach, Seals And Sea Otters!
We stayed here for six days in November 2011, a family of four with two children aged 10 and 8. It is in a fantastic position, about 30 metres to the main walk/bike trail along Monterey's and Pacific Grove's waterfront, an easy walk to the Monterey aquarium, cafes and shops. It is a couple of blocks to the supermarket, so you really don't need a car to stay here (although not that easy to get to by public transport). The local area is lovely, with the bike/walking trail going a long way through Monterey. I saw sea otters most mornings I went jogging, there are harbour seals about 100metres away, and sea lions at Fisherman's wharf. You can hire bikes at several places along the trail, and ride a long way along the coast, which is a very enjoyable way to see the area. The house itself is lovely, with a view out over the water, a comfortable and carefully decorated living/dining/kitchen space and three good sized bedrooms, with two great bathrooms. The kitchen is very well equipped, with everything you could possibly want to cook a gourmet meal. It was possibly a little too carefully decorated for our family. With two boys aged 10 and 8 we always felt we were walking on eggshells, not helped by the little signs in many places reminding us of the house rules. The house looked absolutely lovely when we walked in, but it wasn't as homey as some other less lovely places we have stayed in where we could let our boys wrestle on the couch.”
