This custom European-style 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath luxury home, just steps from Monterey Bay, has fantastic views of whitewater, sailboats, sea life and the mountains beyond!

The 1,800 sq ft home is just minutes to downtown PacificGrove, Cannery Row and the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium and a short drive to Carmel or Pebble Beach. A walking and bike path along the shoreline extends from Cannery Row to Lover’s Point, past the famed succulent carpet of pink blooms, around Pt. Pinos with its trademark lighthouse, all the way to Spanish Bay and world-famous Pebble Beach.

Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complimentary wine and cheese, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, spa robes and beach gear.

A charming wooden gate welcomes you to a brick pathway lined with ferns and trumpet vines that leads to the front door. Enter a vaulted foyer with a magnificent Art Nouveau stained-glass chandelier, a hand-carved Moroccan mirror and an intricately carved antique wood chest from India. A hallway leads to 2 bedrooms and a full bath. One bedroom, with a garden view, has a king bed and a walk-in closet. A second bedroom has an ocean view and a queen bed. Both feature rustic wrought-iron chandeliers, Parisian shutters as headboards, luxury mattresses and linens, as well as Louis XVI-style armchairs. The bathroom with terracotta tiles features a large step-down shower that can be partially filled for a shallow bath. A laundry room with washer and dryer are on this level.

Climb the stairs from the entryway and enter a spacious living room with elegant Old-World charm imparted by a beamed vaulted ceiling, gas fireplace with a carved and gilded wooden mirror over the mantle, a chocolate-colored velvet couch, leather and tapestry side chairs. The only touch of modernity is a large flat-screen TV. Bay windows looks out to the handsome neighboring homes, Monterey cypresses and the ocean.

The second-floor master bedroom has an air of opulence created by the wood-beamed ceiling, bronze Moroccan chandelier, king bed, walk-in closet and a magnificent view of whitewater breaking on the rocks below. The large terracotta tiled bathroom with its walk-in shower, his-and-her sinks and a separate commode complete this luxurious suite.

The kitchen and dining room feature tranquil views of white-capped waves on the bay and beyond to distant mountains. Enjoy cooking in the fully-equipped, white ceramic-tiled kitchen from which you may catch sight of an occasional whale or a pod of dolphins. Cooks will delight in the carefully conceived layout which includes a Wolf gas stove, side-by-side stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. A long countertop divides the cooking and dining areas which allows the cook to serve diners without missing any of the fun.

The adjacent dining area has a long wooden antique table seats up to 8 beneath a European wrought-iron chandelier. Enjoy daylight views of Monterey Bay sea life while dining.

One-car, non-attached garage, driveway for 1 additional car, as well as ample on-street parking.

Great location to walk along the waterfront. Easy drive to Pebble Beach & Carmel. The reverse floor plan (living room, kitchen & dining room on 2nd floor) give you nice views. The LR is dark compared to the dining room. 2 small balconies off the dining room give you a place to sit outside on that level. Ground floor there's a grill & table & chairs. The grill was very clean, but the chairs needed a wiping down. We had a weird high pitched whistle in the master bathroom, maintenance was quick to respond & fix it. We even managed to close the garage door with the remote inside! Again Management was responsive with a 2nd remote. I was surprised there wasn't a press pad on the outside, might be a good idea to add one!
We had a great time & definitely recommend this rental. plenty of street parking on 1st street.

Villa by the Sea was a perfect spot for 6 guests to enjoy Pacific Beach, Monterey, Carmel and nearby parks. The kitchen had a professional gas stove with a built-in flat top and was very well-equipped. The two full bathrooms had great showers, although the smaller bathroom steamed up and the window would not open. The property manager had a bottle of wine, cheese, and crackers waiting for us when we arrived. They promptly adjusted the outdoor light when contacted. The washer and dryer were very large capacity. There was an ironing board, but the iron was missing. We left a note about it when we left, so I am sure that was taken care of. Lots of wraps and blankets were in the unit so that you can sit outside in the cool breeze and enjoy the view from the two balconies. We saw whales spouting in the bay! The beautiful furnishings and the décor were Mediterranean/antiques. The unit was spotless except for the carpet could use a good cleaning- lots of spots. Our favorite places to eat are Poppy Hall, Passionfish, Vivolo's Chowder House, and Osteria al Mare. We rode rental e-bikes on the 17-mile scenic drive, went whale watching, hiked in area parks, enjoyed several wine tastings, and walked along the Ocean trail just outside the door.

Everything went well. The location was super. We had everything we needed for meals in.

I suggested on the survey in house that: you clean the carpets,(soilded all oveer and musty, damp smell downstairs) fix the lamp in back bedroom downtairs, paint closet in first bedroom downstairs (big water stain).

"We love this place! We've stayed at Villa by the Sea 4 times over the past 10 years and it's become our home away from home. It's a lovely place with lots of room, great views of the ocean and it's centrally located near waterside walking paths, the Aquarium, Cannery Row and many excellent restaurants. We rarely have to use the car once we're settled in. Watch for for the seagull we've named "Roofus" that always seems to be perched on the house next door. Definitely worth a visit!"

"Great location, Clean, Good Views! This is a very nice property, great location (easy walk to Aquarium and the coastal paved trail that follows the ocean front to Lovers Point). It was very nice to having a good 2 car garage in the rear. The views from the living, kitchen, dining areas and the master bedroom are very nice. Unit was clean and very well equipped with everything you need. We had grandchildren in the area that visited us and we were extremely happy to see that our unit had a removable child gate (very good quality) for the upper staircase entry. The iron railings in the pictures also have clear Plexiglas barriers so very safe unit for the little ones (keep in mind there are a lot of hard tile floors to be careful with). The rooms are nice size and the entire home is very comfortable. This is a unit I would recommend and one that we will return to in the future."

"Perfect location. Great views! This was a great rental for our family of four. The location was perfect for enjoying the bay area. Sitting on the second floor balcony and soaking up the ocean views and cool winds was priceless. The floor plan worked well for us. Master on the second floor and two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor for our two teenagers. Laundry room and a well stocked kitchen made it like a home. We were very happy with this rental."

"Spacious, comfortable home with fantastic views from every window! Our stay here was fantastic, the home was well stocked with everything you need. The beds were all comfortable and the views are exactly what you want. The wine and cheese was a nice touch, it was great to show up and sit outside on the patio to soak up the ocean view with a glass of local Chardonnay. This house is perfect walking distance to Lovers Point Beach, Cannery Row, and several really good restaurants. If you're staying in this home, you don't have to worry about using your rental car very often, although quick trips to Pebble Beach and some of the state parks are well worth it. This is a two-story home, and most of the activity will be upstairs where the master bedroom is located. Everything in the kitchen worked perfectly and every utencil we needed was provided. If your physical condition or health doesn't allow for frequent stair use, this may not be for you. I can't think of any other reason this wouldn't be a perfect vacation home."

"Lovely stay! Our family of four had a wonderful albeit too brief holiday at this charming villa. The house is nicely done up and had all the basic necessities, including a fantastic location and, of course, a great view from the kitchen/ dining area. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well appointed and clean as were the bathrooms. The stairs may be tricky for families with very young children (toddlers), but not an issue with older kids. Julia (property manager) was very helpful and very responsive. Thank you Julia! We only wished we could have stayed longer! We hope to be back!"

"Cozy stay, great location, a few repairs. We were two families (4 adults, 2 tweens) here for an active (yet relaxing) getaway and to attend BMW Oktoberfest. The location can't be beat! This 3 BD/2.5 BA townhouse is across the street from the ocean, a short walk to the aquarium and Cannery Row, Lover's Point, and a grocery store (Nob Hill). Getting to the Laguna Seca Raceway for the driving events was an easy 20 minutes. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a bottle of Chardonnay and Boursin cheese tray. Thanks, SVR! From the kitchen balcony, the beautiful ocean beckoned and we immediately headed to the beach for some fun! We climbed rocks at the beach, kayaked, and enjoyed a morning jog/walk to the lighthouse/golf course. Spent two days at the aquarium. Thanks to SVR, we got a terrific price on aquarium tickets. Highly recommend you get your tickets through their reservations dept. The kitchen is great for preparing meals and dining with family. Plenty of cookware and utensils. We shopped for food at Nob Hill and cooked a lovely 3-course dinner our first night. Only downside was the washer not working. We had accumulated some dirty clothes from our beach trips and driving events. We notified Julia, the house manager, who seemed surprised we already had laundry after two days. But then she kindly offered to take our wash to the laundromat and had it washed, folded and delivered. We greatly appreciated this, as we were quite sweaty from all of our outdoor day activities! The house could use some maintenance and repair (i.e. floor tiles, termite) and would be nice to have mirrors in the downstairs bedrooms, so people can get ready when the bathroom is occupied. But overall is quaint and cozy. We enjoyed our stay!"

“Beautiful and convenient. We really enjoyed out time, most of it spent in the kitchen and dining room with a view of the ocean. "Daydreaming About Returning To The Villa By The Sea. I rented the Villa by the Sea in Monterey for 4 nights in January of 2015. My husband and I invited another couple to join us. There are two bedrooms downstairs and a master bedroom upstairs and there are two large bathrooms. So, the space allowed each couple a good deal of privacy. The upstairs living room, kitchen, and dining room are well equipped, bright, and cheerful. The company, the weather, the location, the residence, assistance from the manager, the nearby amenities and sites were all perfect. Absolutely perfect. Now your experience might vary depending on your choice of friends and the luck of the weather, but as for the rest you, can count on a truly memorable, peaceful, and restful get-away. I think not!!) the Sardine Factory, Cannery Row Brewery, Massaro and Santos...the list goes on...picked up amazing produce at the Farmer's Market and discovered new delights in Pacific Grove (how have we missed Pavel's Backerei???). We would recommend this experience to anyone that wants to enjoy the best that Monterey has to offer but who wants to enjoy it at their own pace and schedule... “Villa By The Sea Pacific Grove. We had a wonderful time at Villa by the Sea in Pacific Grove. I had read some of the reviews and I didn't realize how great the views were from the dining and kitchen area and master bedroom. The welcoming tray of wine and cheese was really nice. The ability to walk to Lovers Point or cannery row was really great. The kitchen was charming and with the windows in the dining room made it one of the best rooms in the house, My suggestion for improvement would be a second bedside table for the bedrooms for water. The management responded promptly on a holiday weekend when we accidentally misplaced our garage door opener and checked back with us later to make sure we were able to locate and use the spare. It was a fun place to stay for our adult family and I would recommend it to any family that doesn't have small children or problems with stairs.”

“Wonderful Place To Stay In Monterey CA! This is a wonderful place to stay. Very comfortable and roomy. We walked a block to the ocean and were able to see the harbor seals and their pups hanging on the beach. Walk to the Aquarium, Cannery Row and even Fisherman's Wharf! If I had to complain at all, and I really shouldn't, it would be to have more lounging chairs in the living room. The beds were very comfortable - better than I have at home! We had a seagull that would hang out with us on the small balcony. If we left the door open, he would just stare in at us. We visited Cooper's Pub a number of times and met some locals (including the owner of the bar) and got good tips on things to do and places to go. Highly recommend a trip there and sit at the bar to get good info. If you can spare the time, take a trip to Phil's Fish Market and Eatery in Moss Landing. Best Seafood we had! Also, Sandbar & Grill on the less populated area at Fisherman's Wharf. More locals, fewer tourists! 17 Mile drive is a must. Eat at Pebble Beach Golf Club and pretend your are a famous golfer! “This Was A Terrific Place To Stay--Lovely Home And Setting. We were quite impressed with the house that we rented from Sanctuary Vacation Rentals. Not only were they pleasant to work with, they followed up with any detail that was needed. We needed some help with the drains in a bathroom and the plumber was there within an hour to fix the problem. We also had left an expensive item in the house and I received a call the next day and it was shipped back to us asap. We would rent from them again without hesitation.”

“Stunning Oceanview Home In Pacific Grove Central To Everything. We rented this gorgeous home (and the adjoining home) for a family wedding week on the Monterey Peninsula. The cook's kitchen and spacious dining area allowed us to gather groups of 12 to 14 for wonderful meals with the sights and sounds of Monterey Bay as our backdrop. Every bed was 5 star hotel comfortable, and the 2.5 bath set up easily handled our group. The cozy living room was the perfect spot to relax in front of the fireplace at the end of the day. There is a great laundry room with ironing set up, and a large garage with additional off street parking for another car. This was very handy during the July 4th weekend. This home is a half block from the Pacific Coast trail for walking, jogging, and cycling along the coast. You can watch sea otters while you eat your breakfast, or stroll a half block along the coast and visit the harbor seal colony. Restaurants, shops, coffee and a local grocer are a five minute walk away. Although this home is central, it was very quiet at night for sleeping. This is a two level home that has a fairly steep tiled staircase that would be challenging for folks with mobility issues, and dangerous for young children.”

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in terms of finding us a house in the perfect location -we needed to be walking distance to Cannery Row and this house is literally one block away. the house was incredibly clean, the beds were all very comfortable with nice linens. The bathrooms were also clean and really big with luxurious towels. There was wine and Boursin cheese waiting our arrival, which was awesome. The kitchen was fully equipped and there were ocean views throughout the beautiful upstairs. My husband and I brought my brother, his girlfriend and my cousin to California for much needed healing time after the death of my mother after a year battle with a bad fall.
