This unique 1,800 sf, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, pet friendly townhome features panoramic ocean views and is located a few steps from one of the most beautiful coastal trails in California and is only a short 5-minute walk to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. This 15 mile trail links the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf and Asilomar State Beach. Every twist and turn brings another incredible view of Monterey Bay, with its abundance of wildlife and natural scenery. One of the best-kept secrets is just 5 minutes away - the Pacific Grove Golf Links with its great prices and amazing views, including the lighthouse at Pt. Pinos.

Enter the enchantingly rustic Sanctuary by the Bay through a small gated entrance and courtyard. You will be delighted with the light-filled rooms, tastefully furnished in neutral tones. The space is light and airy, with high wood ceilings and handmade terracotta tiles throughout the home.

The house has a reverse floor plan with the main living areas and the master bedroom on the second floor to take full advantage of bay views. The upper level has a large open living area, kitchen and dining room with amazing views from every window. Enjoy morning coffee or afternoon wine while watching the sun rise and set over the bay. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare a gourmet multi-course dinner. Discriminating chefs will appreciate the vast selection of dishes, wine glasses, sharpened knives, platters, cooking and bakeware, utensils and accessories provided. A large selection of cookbooks and cooking magazines are on hand to inspire you.

In the living room there is a gas burning fireplace and comfortable seating. Gaze at the fire while enjoying views of the ever-changing sea beyond the French doors. You will find a large comfortable couch with plenty of pillows and a warm throw to snuggle up with as well a small table with two chairs ready for a hand of cards or other available games. You can watch a movie from our DVD library or HBO on cable TV. There are many books and magazines available for your enjoyment.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms
On the second floor near the living areas, Bedroom #1 has a king size bed with a memory foam mattress and a small balcony with a bay view and an en suite bathroom with dual vanities and tiled shower.
Also on this upper level is a half bath, located near the living areas.

On the first floor are two quiet bedrooms. Bedroom #2 has California king Bed and a view of a small courtyard and Bedroom #3 has a queen bed and filtered bay views.
The lower level bathroom has a large tiled shower.

The laundry room is located on the first floor.

Feel free to bring or rent a kayak or bike and keep it in the 1-car garage.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome with pre-approval, an additional pet fee and a signed pet addendum.

This is a townhouse style home with a reverse floor plan. It is one side of a two unit building. See also #3263 to view the other townhouse unit.

This home is a monthly rental and we request that all nights of your stay are within the same calendar month. Some exceptions may be possible, with the approval of our team and the homeowner.

Our 6 month stay at Sanctuary by the Bay was just about perfect for us. Terrific views, well appointed, great location, very private. This is our 3rd Sanctuary stay and always clean and kind, professional customer service. This condo is being remodeled so will only get better. Highly recommend

wonderful home with white-water views of monterey bay

Overall Comment

The walk score of 90 says it all. Just a few steps to the crashing waves and marine life of Monterey Bay. A few more steps and you’re at Cannery Row with a fantastic array of shops and restaurants. Or head up Lighthouse Avenue for live jazz, a farmers market, the Pacific Grove library, John Steinbeck’s summer cottage. Of course, get in your car and the beauty and history of this area will astound you.
The house is also astounding: wonderful views, stacks and stacks of fluffy white towels, cozy gas fireplace, comfortable beds (well, the queen was too soft), well-stocked kitchen, and more paper goods and amenities than we have ever had supplied in a rental.

the view was breathtaking

We loved the house and location. The view was breathtaking and we were within walking distance of lovers point and cannery row. However there were many major things wrong with the house that needed fixing: broken garage door opener, broken blinds cutting off view, windows that didn’t open or close easily or at all, terribly uncomfortable bed, front door lock mismatched, etc. Sanctuary responded to each thing until all was well.

wonderful months long stay

Overall Comment

With my company's new remote work policy, I enjoyed several months at 3096 Sanctuary by the bay. The location is great, being just moments to the Rec trail, stores and restaurants. Wifi was perfect for all those zoom calls, made much more enjoyable with ocean views. You won't want to leave!

great location. can use some updating.

Overall Comment

We rented the property for 4 months while relocating to the area.
It was the perfect location to get around. Steps to the rec trail and walking distance to the aquarium, lovers point, shopping, restaurants etc...
The view was amazing!!!
We enjoyed the split level as our kids and visitors are adults. As for little children the stairs are steep with a few narrow steps.
The kitchen definitely needs an update but was sufficient. No microwave
though.
The bathrooms REALLY need updating. The showers were almost unusable.
We did pay our own utilities as we were there over 30 days. The bills seemed high compared to what we paid in our much larger home but oh well!
We did enjoy the property. Just highly recommend a bath remodel.

triathlon weekend

We stayed here for the weekend of the Pacific Grove Triathlon. The location could not have been more perfect and the home was a great place to relax and hang out as a group.
