Heaven from reservations to check out. The people at Sanctuary all have terrific customer service skills and attitudes. Thank you for being so considerate. The house was beyond our imagination. Imagine two little girls finding flashlights by their beds upon arrival - sweet touch and the wine and cheese left for us was just what we needed after a long day of travel. The house is well appointed and an easy walk down to see the seals and the Aquarium. We walked it several times with no complaints from kids - just grandma and grandpas hips. Highly recommend this house. Very clean and nice!

Did you receive the note I left on the table? House lovely, lived-in comfortable and location fantastic! Cobwebs on chandeliers & recessed lights & lamps. Cobwebs in primary bath (ceiling & corners). Refrigerator unclean. Dishes in cupboard actually dirty (food caked on surfaces). Blinds in primary bedroom do not work. Dishwasher doesn't clean dishes. These are all easy to correct. I loved my stay! Hearing the waves crash on shore every night and the seals bark in the early morning was magical.

We had a great stay! The house was very clean, beautiful view, and close to everything. It was a comfortable stay with plenty of room for our party of 6. We enjoyed walking and biking along the water and experiencing the local activities like the Pacific Grove farmers market. Other reviews mentioned the steep stairs… we had prepared ourselves but wouldn’t have thought twice about them (and we had 2 toddlers and 2 seniors in our party).

This house was a wonderful place to stay! It's a short walk on the coastal trail to Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and restaurants. Nearby tidepooling at Point Pinos and Lovers Point were the highlight of our trip. Otters floated in the water nearby. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed. Two of the bedrooms had king beds. We had a view of the ocean. The smart TV allowed us to view all of our streaming services. One issue came up during the trip, and it was quickly resolved. Highly recommend this property!

Excellent little house for my sister, dad, and my self along with our spouses to stay for the week to celebrate a big birthday. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment. There's enough space for five or six people comfortably and is laid out so you can have different things going on in different rooms if you want a little separation. It's a block from the ocean and the walking path along it. Also walking distance to the aquarium. Great views from the dining room too.

The Location of this Home was Perfect

The property could not be in a better location. It was clean and had the amenities we needed as a family. My wife and I shared on bedroom on the first floor, our two small children shared the other room downstairs, and my dad and his wife shared the upstairs bedroom. They layout worked great, and they were able to supply a pack-n-play for our 2 year old. Arriving to cheese and crackers and a bottle of wine was a nice touch. There were some loose power outlets coming off of the wall, which was concerning with small children in the house, and also made it difficult to plug in our devices without them falling out. There were also some loose vents that could be tightened up, but not a big deal. One thing to note is that if you have small children, you need to be careful of the stairs going from the living room to the downstairs. It looks like there is a configuration for a baby gate down at the top of the stairs and we found the gate in the laundry room, but we couldn't figure out how to set it up. The location of this home was perfect - an easy walk down to the water, close to cannery row and the aquarium, and lots of good restaurants and coffee shops!

We were very pleased with our stay. It was clean and a beautiful location. It is truly a quick walk to the Aquarium and Cannery Row. We will be staying here again. Only complaint was the pocket doors would not close and would get stuck. I noticed the property management and they offered to come out right away to fix it. Other than that it was spacious and a perfect place to stay.

Lovely home, great location! Well stocked kitchen, baths, etc. Our only problem was that we were there during a tremendous storm and the area lost power. There were no flashlights, and no access to the garage so that we could get our car out. The entire staff of Sanctuary took excellent care of us and I would rent through them anywhere, anytime!

Supremely well managed and clean rental property that needs to be updated. Overall, a nice place that has a 1980's vibe to it. Can't help but look around and think what I'd need to do if I bought it.
I would recommend staying here if for the right reasons. We met clients here and it was less than perfect but for a family vacation or getaway, it would suffice. Note that although close on the map, Pacific Grove is quite different to Carmel. Two very different propositions.

Villa by the Sea is a beautiful place, even lovelier than the on-line pictures. The views from the kitchen/dining area are breathtaking. We stayed for a week during Christmas. The living room is so comfortable, and the gas fireplace really added the cozy factor. The gourmet kitchen had tons of counter space and was equipped with everything we needed to prepare a full Christmas dinner. The bedrooms are lovely with comfortable beds and tons of closet space. The duplex is very close to the ocean, with all kinds of beach walks available. The Aquarium is a 10 minute walk away. You can sit on a small patio off the dining room, drink coffee and watch the waves crash on the shore. It is a truly magical place, and I highly recommend it.

Beautiful house, and location couldn't be beat. Half block to beach and easy walking distance to Aquarium. Without question would stay again. Views were outstanding from all rooms.
Couple of items to make it nicer. We lost internet second day and couldn't reach property manager. Turns out the modem had come out of wall socket, so we fixed it. Suggest adding instruction to check connection (and where located) to package if internet is lost. Very difficult to get hold of property manager. Lot of controls for TV/cable/streaming service made use a little difficult.

Loved the condo and the area was great being a very short walk to a nice walking path and the ocean. Only complaint was the birds. They were so noisy in the very early morning often waking us up in the master bedroom. Perhaps the owners could put up some kind of deterrents on the roof to cut down on the noise and it would be a great improvement.

Villa with a View and a Seagull

We chose Villa by the Sea for its location and views and were not disappointed by either. The property's dining room features a large table with a view of the Pacific. Its a gorgeous room and reminded me of the Mediterranean. We took several walks while we were in PG--to Monterey for lunch, to Lover's Point for the sunset, and to town for coffee in the morning. We also went kayaking from the beach and saw four or five harbor seals in the kelp beds. When in the area, we love to visit Point Lobos State Natural Reserve and Seventeen Mile Drive. Both places were easily reached from this location. We found the house to be clean and well cared for. To add a little local color, there is a seagull who guards the house every morning and night. He (or she) took a little getting used to, but we thought he was cute! Don't feed him though...he seems to expect it!

Great location to walk along the waterfront. Easy drive to Pebble Beach & Carmel. The reverse floor plan (living room, kitchen & dining room on 2nd floor) give you nice views. The LR is dark compared to the dining room. 2 small balconies off the dining room give you a place to sit outside on that level. Ground floor there's a grill & table & chairs. The grill was very clean, but the chairs needed a wiping down. We had a weird high pitched whistle in the master bathroom, maintenance was quick to respond & fix it. We even managed to close the garage door with the remote inside! Again Management was responsive with a 2nd remote. I was surprised there wasn't a press pad on the outside, might be a good idea to add one!
We had a great time & definitely recommend this rental. plenty of street parking on 1st street.

Everything went well. The location was super. We had everything we needed for meals in.
I suggested on the survey in house that: you clean the carpets,(soilded all oveer and musty, damp smell downstairs) fix the lamp in back bedroom downtairs, paint closet in first bedroom downstairs (big water stain).

Overall Comment
Villa by the Sea was a perfect spot for 6 guests to enjoy Pacific Beach, Monterey, Carmel and nearby parks. The kitchen had a professional gas stove with a built-in flat top and was very well-equipped. The two full bathrooms had great showers, although the smaller bathroom steamed up and the window would not open. The property manager had a bottle of wine, cheese, and crackers waiting for us when we arrived. They promptly adjusted the outdoor light when contacted. The washer and dryer were very large capacity. There was an ironing board, but the iron was missing. We left a note about it when we left, so I am sure that was taken care of. Lots of wraps and blankets were in the unit so that you can sit outside in the cool breeze and enjoy the view from the two balconies. We saw whales spouting in the bay! The beautiful furnishings and the décor were Mediterranean/antiques. The unit was spotless except for the carpet could use a good cleaning- lots of spots. Our favorite places to eat are Poppy Hall, Passionfish, Vivolo's Chowder House, and Osteria al Mare. We rode rental e-bikes on the 17-mile scenic drive, went whale watching, hiked in area parks, enjoyed several wine tastings, and walked along the Ocean trail just outside the door.
