Overall Comment
Even the drive up to the community made us understand that this stay was going to be good for the soul. The secluded, quiet, and safe neighborhood was second only to the views. We could hear the ocean from nearly every room, and the view from the primary bedroom was indescribable!

Monterey Dunes is an incredibly relaxing and beautiful place to stay. This house had everything we needed. Comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, three bathrooms and bedrooms. Only con was that the info stated they would try to accommodate early check-in or late check-out if you ask in advance. I asked repeatedly and was told each time to ask at a later time (a couple days before, then the afternoon before, then 30 minutes before check in - what's the point?) They also couldn't accommodate an 11am check-out, even though the house wasn't booked until the next day. They said the cleaners would arrive at 10:30 but we left later than that and they weren't there. I feel they can work on this accommodation. Having 4pm check-in and 10am check-out is less accommodating than I'd expect when paying over $1,000 a day.

Sand dollar House Review

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Sand Dollar House. The location is wonderful with fabulous sea views, right on the sand dunes near the beach. Sanctuary Vacation Rentals were very professional, and we appreciated the welcomed gifts of wine and cheese and crackers. The property was very clean and well equipped, including coffee and popcorn.
The houses in this development are all older style homes and are showing their age to some degree. The master bedroom has an opening to the living room below which can be a disadvantage; any noise or light from the downstairs area will be noticed.
Overall though, we would definitely recommend this home for a stay at the beach.

We loved staying here—two families with school age kids. It was incredibly comfortable and so close to the beach. We were out every day! Enjoyed the community hot tub as well. It had one of the best stocked kitchen with everything you need for cooking, practical items like washer, dryer, beach towels, extra blankets were all easily available. There was not one item we needed that we didn’t find! The views and beauty of the property were even better than the listing photos! We also really enjoyed the grill and private front yard area—again great for kids and for enjoying the weather.

We arrived with 5 adults and two children (10 & 3) for a very enjoyable Spring Break experience at Sand Dollar House. The house was spotlessly clean, fully equipped for both cooking and entertainment and was closely adjacent to the heated pool, hot tub, and sports area. In addition it sits on the dunes close to the beach and water. A lovely place to stay, with beautiful views, comfortable bedrooms, a washer/dryer and many other amenities. We also had contact with the Sanctuary Vacation staff, who were very responsive and helpful. We are definitely going to plan additional stays at this property.

From the moment I opened the gate I knew our stay would be amazing.The patio and the house were perfectly equipped with all the necessary appliances and furniture that fit our needs. We were greeted with a beautiful tray of wine ,apple cider, crackers and cheese with a personal note. The house was immaculate and so comfortable, we slept in , played on the beach, and just enjoyed every day we spent there as a family. Wonderful memories were made once again. We’ve been guests of Monterey Dunes for 35 years , we’ll continue.The staff began reaching out to me 1 week week prior to our stay and continued once we arrived to assure all our needs were met. Thank you for making our stay so amazing.

This was our third time staying at this property and it was just as wonderful as the other two times. The home is lovely, all the comforts of home and more! The home was clean and staged beautifully! Our four year old absolutely loves being on the beach - does not care how cold it is, so its nice being able to walk to the beach and quickly run back and jump in a warm shower!

Wow!! What an incredible home!! This rental had everything and more! The location is so hidden, it makes for such a relaxing stay. You can walk right out to your own private beach! Not only was this house beautiful, but it was also so welcoming. It had every single gadget you could need in the kitchen. It had nice beds, a comfy couch, & a BEAUTIFUL dining setup. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This unit had a wonderful open concept type layout with the outdoor deck as a main focus. The view was incredible from the master bedroom. Everything was provided from extra shampoo bottles to coffee grounds to duraflame logs for the fireplace. They thought of everything to make us feel at home and comfortable. We can't wait to stay here again soon!

Wonderful place for two families with young children to spend a week. Quiet, clean, with ample parking and access to pool and beach. Comfortable beds and well-equipped kitchen. We made quick trips to town for groceries and takeout, and had easy access to Monterey Car Week activities. We had everything we wanted, except for the sun (60 degrees was the high the whole week). The 4-yr-old is already planning to move to Sand Dollar House permanently. :)

Love the patio with lots of seating and new gas grill. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and utensils for people like us who love to cook. Thanks for multiple coffee making options and a great toaster, too! The bedding is wonderful. Not only tasteful colors, but great feeling comforters and sheets. Appreciate the beach/pool/hot tub towels. Not mentioning the dunes and ocean view because that's why we come to these units - it's so incredible especially to watch the sunset. Thank you.
