Home was located close to everything. Loved the view! House had everything we needed to cook and relax. We wish there had been more available outdoors on the patio (cushioned seating/gas fire pit). Loved the house!

Family Holiday

Every year we rent a Sanctuary Vacation home in November to celebrate our Family Holiday as we live on opposite coasts. This house suited us well. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, and the setting beautiful. Proximity to everything in Carmel and Monterey just a few minutes drive. This house is a preserved 1970s mid-modern gem with a Soleri bell hanging in the foyer! Expect this house to reflect the era. The only issue is that the deck of this house is not child or pet friendly (the railing is not to code and it is well above the ground). If young children or pets are part of your entourage, you may need a different property.

Beautiful setting and perfect for a getaway with friends. Clean, nice bed & bath linens, supplies. Management company was very communicative. Great location - central to Spanish Bay, Monterey, Carmel. Loved the bagpiper while at Sticks for drinks to watch the sun go down. Kitchen was sufficient with nice appliances, but we could have used some instructions for the oven. Would definitely come back again and recommend to others.

This charming home captivates you with timeless architectural features like soaring volumes and hand-crafted redwood panels. Though built more than five decades ago, the feel is contemporary and comforting. The owners offer experienced guidance about living in their home often making use of small, tastefully framed information, for instance, about internet access. Plus, VRBO is there to respond quickly to issues that need fixing (e.g. light switch not working).

Feel of an Upscale Cabin in the Woods

Serenity in the Woods is an apt name for this property. It has the feel of an upscale cabin in the woods with a wonderful view of the surrounding trees. It is very private and quiet with enough amenities to make it very comfortable. The floor to ceiling windows make this home very bright. The location is perfect if you want to enjoy both Monterey and Carmel. My family loved this house. We had one or two issues that were rapidly addressed by the management staff. If you are looking for a quiet place in the Pebble Beach area this is a great option.

Wonderful Stay!

We stayed at Serenity in the Woods for the entire month of March. Everywhere you were in the house was like being outside with the comforts of inside. The entire south wall is made of glass panels as you can see from the pictures. The kitchen had everything you could want (there are many cabinets, so if you don't find something, keep looking). The oven is an unfamiliar brand (I think European), but works well. I did have to look up instructions on how to use it on the internet. The beds and furniture were comfortable. Sanctuary Vacation Rentals was prompt at responding to any requests. The location is ideal; half-way between Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey, close to Highway 1, and next to Pebble Beach with easy and free access to 17 Mile Dr. There was a lot of places to visit and to hike nearby. We went to the Monterey Aquarium, visited Carmel Valley, and hiked Point Lobos and Big Sur, among other things. The place was clean. The only downside were the March rains which were unusually heavy this year.

My wife and I stayed here in July. We loved this tranquil place. With a log cabin feel, and a lot of skylight, it was a wonderful experience. The location was great, with all the trails in the back and the ocean not too far away. Being less than 2 hours from the Bay Area, this is a wonderful getaway retreat! We would love to come back!

We Loved the Peace and Quiet of the Home!

I spent a weekend at Serenity in the Woods in August 2021, and had an amazing experience visiting with my boyfriend and dog. The home itself is stunning - we were immediately struck by the beams and natural wood detail. Located behind the gates to 17-mile-drive, we loved the peace and quiet of the home, and took full advantage of the beautiful walking trails behind the house each morning. After having coffee among the trees on the deck, we took advantage of the amazing location and spent our days exploring downtown breweries, bakeries, or beaches. The full kitchen was also perfect for making breakfast or reheating dinner leftovers. This was the perfect beach getaway & retreat, I would definitely recommend the home for anyone looking to unwind in nature. We had an amazing trip to the Serenity in the Woods home and look forward to returning for another trip.

I Look Forward to Returning for a Longer Stay!

I visited Serenity in the woods in January 2021, over a weekend, with my family (teenager, dog, husband and me). It was an idyllic two days. I love the Monterey/Carmel area and the view from the living area with the easy access to the walking trails were winning points for me, and these were just what I expected from my previous visits to the area. The house was a totally unexpected pleasure- the breathtaking architecture which brought the outdoors in, the tasteful and artistic decorative touches, the nook upstairs with games and books. It felt like a spectacular home - beautiful to the eye while being comfortable and inviting and cozy. I look forward to returning for a longer stay.

The Architecture is Beautiful!

I stayed in this property in summer 2020. It is a beautiful property set in the woods and just off the scenic 17-mile drive off picturesque Pebble Beach. The architecture is beautiful. The setting is peaceful and serene. The property is clean, spacious, bright, airy, and well maintained. Sitting in the living room looking out into the woods or enjoying the outdoor view from the balcony I felt peaceful. My central nervous system calmed down. I also enjoyed riding my bike from there to The Inn at Spanish Bay, a short ride away. I highly recommend this rental and would go there and stay again in a heartbeat.

This is a beautiful house in a great location. The pictures that you see are exactly as we found the house. The house was clean and all the furniture and beds are comfortable. Sanctuary Vacation Rentals which manages the house has great employees and are extremely polite and helpful. We had a great Christmas.
