I loved the fact that this is a new rental and hasn’t shown much signs of wear having been nicely newly remodeled. Comfortable stay here. Nice layout for how small the home is. The glass table was not my favorite and the living room furniture was not comfortable. The landscaping could use some fine tuning. If those things were improved I could justify the high price. It was nice to have a small designated parking spot and the ability to easily walk to either lovers point or Red House cafe. The location was great and we liked being able to bring our little dog. Sanctuary has always been a great agency to rent from although they are very expensive. An earlier check in and later check out would be appreciated especially with the price you pay.

My children and I stayed at this adorable beach cottage for spring break. The location can’t be beat. It was a 5 minute walk to Lover’s Point and a 5 minute walk to downtown Pacific Grove. The property was bright and airy. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were very comfy. The property management company was amazing to work with. We appreciated the welcome goodies waiting for us when we arrived. If you are looking for a place to stay in Pacific Grove look no further.

Family members enjoyed walking to the beach and town stores which were all within minutes. House very clean and comfortable for our group of five ages 40-58. Communication with management company was very prompt and professional. Great place to enjoy Monterey, PG and Pebble Beach!

We had a great stay here. The house was very clean and cozy. Super close to a nice beach with tide pools and a number of places to eat. Also easy access to the bike path- just a mile to the aquarium! My kids didn't want to leave.

We had a great stay here. The house was very clean and cozy. Check in was very easy since the door locks used electronic codes instead of keys. Perfect location, super close to a nice beach with tide pools and a number of places to eat. Also easy access to the bike path- just a mile to the aquarium! We appreciated the Hospitality app that was provided and used it for lots of suggestions especially with food.
Overall a great experience. My kids didn't want to leave.

the moment we walked into the house we were impressed!
From the moment we walked in to the house we were impressed. Soft music was playing and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and cheese and crackers! The house was sunny and bright, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. Comfy beds and spacious showers were a plus! The house is a short walk to the beach at Lover’s Point. We will definitely return.

The stay was great...the communication with the property manager was great...the only surprise was an added charge that was disclosed at the end of the renting process. Once I was aware of it I could have cancelled but chose to stay with that property because of location. I will be more attentive next time. But I would give the stay itself 5 stars.

perfectly situated for a monterrey peninsula vacation

The house is in an ideal location in Pacific Grove: 1 block from Lover's Point and the oceanside walking trail, 2 blocks from downtown, 5 minutes from the weekly farmer's market, and a very short drive to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, 17-Mile Drive, Trader Joe's, etc. You'd be hard-pressed to find anything more perfectly situated.
The house, originally built circa1880, has been very nicely updated, with all mod cons, and has a clean, modern feel. It's well-stocked with plenty of bath soaps, trash bags, laundry soap, TP, etc. - clearly someone is thinking things through.
However, the house is small and comfortably accommodates no more than four adults (or two adults and three children). We were five adults, and at times it felt cramped. The allotted parking space is very, very tight - even a compact car would be a squeeze. And the kitchen isn't stocked for gourmet cooking, so plan to bring your own if you want to do a lot of cooking.
The house had several minor issues, which I addressed with the management company: not quite clean, broken refrigerator parts, nightly invasions of foraging ants, and the refrigerator/freezer failed to cool after the power failed on NYEve. To be fair, however, I declined an immediate response to any of these issues - it was Christmastime, after all, and none of these had easy fixes. On the whole, I think Sanctuary does a good job of managing this property.

Surfs Up was exactly as photographed. The home was immaculately clean, cozy and comfortable. The beds were awesome and every amenity was covered. The bathrobes were so great that we drove to Carmel to visit Amie in hopes to buy some to take home. That was the only “miss”, that they don’t sell them. We couldn’t have found a nicer, more conveniently located, wonderful home to spend our week near Monterey.

Wonderful! Surf’s Up was the perfect cottage for the 3 of us! It was very clean and beautifully decorated. Wine and cheese upon arriving and white bathrobes for chilly nights. I highly recommend as it is close to the beach and trails along the sea. We will definitely stay at Surf’s Up again!

This is a perfect location to walk to the fantastic restaurants as well as to Lover’s Point. It’s a few block walk for both. We were surprised how easy it was to get a parking spot in front of the house. Our SUV though was too difficult to park in the driveway. Nicely decorated and Sanctuary Vacation provides excellent bedding and especially white very fluffy towels! My only recommendation for the owner would be to invest in better cookware and a perhaps a better kitchen table (it’s so flimsy and tiny) and better chairs for the dining table (again they’re flimsy and not comfortable to enjoy a nice meal). The bathtub was fine for us but I can see some people (especially small children or individuals with mobility challenges) having trouble stepping over the high edge of the tub .Otherwise the home is nicely decorated and we enjoyed our stay.

Pros: Complimentary cheese & crackers and a bottle of local wine, keypad entry to both doors, dedicated off street parking, fluffy towels, laundry, large TV with Roku, and *location* (quiet neighborhood just steps from the water).
Cons: Very few if any? If pressed I'd maybe say that there could be more comfortable seating but honestly the rental is lovely and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Wonderful location in a quiet side street about a 3 min walk to the ocean. The area of Lovers Point is romantic with a lot of small restaurants and shops. The unit itself is fairly big with a lot of hangers - strange to mention I know but a lot of places don’t have enough! The kitchen supplies were just enough for the 2 of us. Washer and dryer worked fine. Quick responses and super easy in and out. Beautiful unit with high ceilings and felt upgraded.

We loved our stay in Pacific Grove. The only thing I would change about the house was the shower. Loved the antique claw tub shower, but was hard to get into and my mother had to use a step stool. Overall, it was an awesome house and vacation.

cozy cottage

This property is 1 block from lover’s point. Neighborhood road that isn’t busy (one-way). Parking on the road is hard to find unless it’s after 8am but before 3pm. The parking spot included with house is small my Audi Q7 was a tight squeeze. It’s a cozy small old cottage from canning days; it was a cool trip back in time to see how the house was once separated. Easy walk to Aquarium, Lover’s Point, Downtown restaurants, Monarch Sanctuary, coastal walks were amazing. We had three deer that showed up every night across the street on neighbors property.
The old shower and plastic curtains took some getting used to; not sure we can do that part again. It’s all about location and this house has it!!!

lovely new rental

This house is newly renovated, very clean and in a perfect location to experience Pacific Grove at its fullest. My only issues were that I had rented a large car that was difficult to park both on the street and in the driveway. Other than that and the fact that there were no hand towels, wash clothes or bath mats in the house the rental was perfect.
