Our family of 3 stayed for a week along with our two small dogs and we had the most wonderful time! The house is in a fabulous location, across the street from a park (great for our 4 year old!) and walking distance to the beach and shops. It was very well-maintained, quiet, clean, and tastefully furnished. We would love to stay again!

We are traveling with our adult daughter and two teens and everyone loved the house. Two of the kids shared the twin with trundle bed and the other luxuriated in a queen bed and they all shared the downstairs bath,with only one fight due to half bath on 2nd floor. The 2nd floor was a really comfortable living room and a separate sitting room. Kitchen was central and we only cooked a few times but easy to use everything. Master was on top floor with a comfortable bed and soaking tub my husband said was great. The layout of the house encouraged interactions but also gave everyone space. Short walk to Lighthouse ave restaurants and shops and Lover’s point.

Location was fantastic. Property was very nice and spacious. Street parking was easy. There is a garage but out GMC was too long to fit. Area nice to take dogs for a walk. Would recommend this property to others. Will definitely stay again when we visit family in the Monterey Bay.

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Caledonia Lookout - what a lovely home! Exactly as described, open and airy and amazing location! 2 short blocks to the fabulous downtown area with cafes and amazing restaurants, 2 even shorter blocks to Lover’s Point Cove and amazing walks on the bluff - sea otters everywhere! Highly recommended, can’t wait for our return visit!

This home was beautiful and well stocked with everything we needed. It was a very comfortable stay and we felt very much at home. The location is incredible with a less than 5 minute walk to Lover's Point Park. The main living area is on the 2nd floor with living room, kitchen, and dining room. Two bedrooms are on the lower entrance-level and the master is on the 3rd floor. Pacific Grove is a dream and we can't wait to return. Will definitely book with Sanctuary again.

We had a very nice family getaway and the house was perfect--easy to walk to the coastal trail/aquarium, easy access to restaurants in town, etc. Very pleasant. We did not need to contact the host during our stay but it seemed like it would be easy to do so. Would definitely stay again.

We arrived at the Sanctuary Vacation Rental late at night and was pleasantly surprised that the house offers a private 2 car garage. Street parking is limited so immediately upon arrival, our stay became stress free. The house is centrally located, walking distance from the water and restaurants. However, a car is suggested to go to nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey. The house is super clean and has all the amenities of home. The WiFi can be a bit spotty on the bottom and top floors but the main floor is fast and reliable. The grand room is spacious with a large-screen tv. The kitchen has all the appliances and cooking supplies you desire. There's a bbq on the patio but we didn't use it. FYI, we did contact the property management about the WiFi and they communicated immediately and offered to send a technician to address the issue but it wasn't that bad since we weren't home alot. I highly recommend this property and the customer service that goes along with the rental.

The home was in a great location with many restaurants and a local grocery and many shopping businesses in easy walking distance but still a private feeling to the home which overlooks a park. An entrance to 17 mile drive is close and it was about a mile to the Monterey bay aquarium with cannery row and 2 blocks to a wonderful beach and the lighthouse and monarch butterfly preserve is close.

Fantastic rental for a family! What a wonderful house! It is airy, bright and has plenty of space. There are so many great restaurants / bakeries / markets in walking distance. If you bring a bike, your just a couple blocks from the bay bike path. It is across the street from a playground and walking distance to Lovers Point. There are views in every direction! It was nice to be able to park in the garage but there is also street parking if needed. We really appreciated discovering wine, cheese, and crackers upon our arrival. The house was impeccably clean and tastefully decorated and the location is very quiet at night. We really enjoyed our visit! Thank you!

We Would Definitely Come Back!

There were 5 of us that stayed in this beautiful home. We were participating in the Big Sur Marathon and this location and home worked perfectly. The location is walking distance to lover's point which is relaxing and beautiful with good restaurants. The main drag of lighthouse Ave with shops and restaurants is only two blocks up up from the house. Everything inside was clean, they left wine, cheese, and crackers, it was lovely. I had to contact them because we set off a smoke alarm with the steam from the shower and maintenance was fast and extremely helpful!! Overall, great stay and we would definitely come back!

The house was great - everything we needed for our stay. We were visiting for a wedding and had the chance to explore around Monterey as well. The house had plenty of space - great common area for the kids to hang out and for us to enjoy the fireplace. We chose this property because of the location and bed sizes. We had two adults and 4 kids. The property was perfect, very clean, and well stocked. The location could not have been any better. The only thing I wish I had known is that the running trail was right there a day earlier.

My friends and I came up for the Big Sur Marathon weekend and we all enjoyed and loved our stay. Overall, the property was clean (save for a few ants but no biggie) and all the amenities worked well. We had enough of everything so no complaints. I have to commend the staff for being super responsive. For instance, we had a bit of issue closing the patio doors but figuring it out was as easy as reaching out to Barbara. Thank you for being super responsive. Also thank you for accommodating our late checkout - it is much appreciated. Overall, and will surely stay here again if we ever return. It definitely is the best way to do the Big Sur Marathon!

Dream Villa in Monterey!

The beautiful photos don't do this gorgeous house justice! We had a SUPERB time in this luxe and lovely home. 3 couples shared the place for 3 nights and we could have stayed forever! The location is beyond perfection - just steps from the sea and a short and lovely walk to the aquarium. The house is so well appointed and the vast living room (with fireplace!) was so great for our board games together and our working apart. The kitchen was full of great appliances and amenities (including an outside grill on the balcony!) and we had so much fun cooking that we ate in every night at the huge dining room table. The welcome included wine and cheese. And the master bedroom upstairs is incredible! The bathtub!
Everything was perfect. Cannot recommend this dream villa highly enough! Thank you!

The house was in a perfect location, on a quiet street next to a small park within easy walking distance to great restaurants like Passionfish, Lovers Point, and the coastal walk to Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. The furnishings were comfortable, particularly the elevated living room over the garage, with attractive artwork. Kitchen had high end appliances, although we only used the refrigerator. It was nice to be greeted with a bottle of wine, crackers and boursin. The description was accurate that the driveway is too small to park, so cars need to fit in the garage. We could just fit a Pacifica minivan due to its length, and also a Jetta next to it (ask passengers to disembark before pulling in). If you have issues with wooden stairs, this would not be suitable as you have to navigate some steps for every level. The master is on the top floor, dining/kitchen/living room/deck on the second floor, and the other two bedrooms are half a flight down from the entry and the garage. There was an inaccuracy in the AirBNB description that we were not aware of until after we paid and got the bed configuration request form from Sanctuary. The third room does not have room for two twin beds, it is a twin bed and a small trundle that pulls out from under the bed. It is all right for two kids, but too tight for two young adults. Also, it was difficult to figure out how to control the water temperature in the master shower, so some directions would be helpful. We had a chilly first night as we did not know the heat was turned off in January. We turned it on for the second night, but it turned itself off some time in the middle of the night. So more instructions on temperature control would have been helpful, too. Overall, a fantastic experience in a great location. The management company was prompt to answer queries, accessible on day of check in and also called the next day to check that everything was ok.

A week in paradise

Our stay at 3817 Caledonia Bay Lookout park was perfection at the coast! This immaculate dog friendly home was perfect for our stay- easily walkable to Lover’s Point to join the coastal trail and nestled in a quiet neighborhood. The park across the street is small but perfect for shorter dog walks. The house is clean, comfortable, and well maintained. We had only one issue with getting the WiFi to work in the lower and upper floors and Sanctuary Vacation Rentals worked very hard to get it to work and when they were not successful, they brought us a hot spot to use. (I am certain this will be an easy fix after our departure.) The neighborhood is typical of Pacific Grove with houses very close to each other but it was very quiet and parking our two cars was never a problem. Great location- walkable to the coast, up to Lighthouse Ave (restaurants and shops) and about 1-2 mi from Cannery Row. The house is built vertically so anyone who cannot walk stairs will have trouble. Overall, for us, this house was perfection and we hope to come back soon!

We had such a great time staying here. The location was perfect, and the home was beautiful!
2 things to note -
1. there is no door on the master bedroom, as it is its own (top/3rd) floor of the house, and
2. the 2 other bedrooms are on the bottom floor, with exterior doors in each.
This setup was perfect for us since our kids are now teenagers, but we were glad that we didn't have younger children that we would want to have closer to us.

Our family enjoyed P.G and the Caledonia home. It was spacious and comfortable. The only hang up I believe is that the front door is on the ground level and the family/living area is on the second level. One of the Sanctuary staff brought us the hot spot which we had requested (quick service), he knocked on the front door and we could not hear that. He was not sure if he should come in unannounced or leave. I think a door bell would be most helpful. I do hope this property is not converted to 30 day stay, there seems to be very few short stays that will accommodate 4+families comfortably.
