peaceful retreat
Overall Comment
This well appointed home is a respite from todays noisy world. The location was prefect for visiting local points of interest as well as walking into Carmel (about 1 mile), just be aware it is a steep grade on the way back so wear walking shoes.
The Robert R Jones home was a delight to stay for the long weekend and we enjoyed sitting outside and soaking in the birdsong and lush gardens.
There were four in our group and was the perfect size for us and we found everything we needed; beds were comfortable and kitchen is stocked for any cooking you may be doing.
Two things we would have enjoyed would be a gas fireplace table outside, even during the day its a bit cool and we wouldve enjoyed it, and the bedroom and bathroom doors are in need of a little tlc as they are quite noisy to open and close.

The gardens and outdoor sitting areas are simply lovely and welcoming, the kitchen is well-outfitted, and it's a nice walk into town (uphill on the way back!). The staff were extraordinarily responsive, and maintained wonderful communication from the moment I booked this place right through check-out.

We had a wonderful stay in Carmel. The home was well-maintained, and the gardens were beautiful. The house is comfortable, with two bedrooms and bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a spacious living area. The kitchen appointments, including adequate cooking vessels and dishes, were really nice, as many rentals tend to err on the side of not providing enough. I would recommend this place and would stay here again.
One note that I shared with the property manager relates to the exterior lighting. The neighbors are quite strict about not having lights on, which makes it difficult when you return home in the evening and limits the use of the exterior space once it gets dark. The documents state that you can have the lights on until 9 PM, but the neighbor spoke to us almost immediately after we arrived about not turning the lights on at all.

The Robert Jones home was just great for a girls’ trip to Carmel. It was clean, quiet and had all we needed as a jumping off point for shopping in Carmel, tidepooling in Asilomar, hiking at Point Lobos and going to great bakeries in Monterey. I’d definitely stay again.

It was very peaceful and serene. Time to sleep in and enjoy the surroundings. Walks around the neighborhood and enjoy the beauty. Meeting friendly neighbors was a definite plus. Cool weather was a much-needed respite from the triple digit goal to enjoy the quiet and solitude. The Robert R. Jones House fit the bill exactly. However, for the money expended, the house, although from the 50's and very quaint and charming, should have a disposal in the kitchen. At least disclose this in future advertisements for this lovely home. The kitchen drawers could have had a better cleaning. The garden in front and back are exquisite. Very private and yet open to all nature surrounding it. The bed linens were of great quality; the bathroom towels were amply provided. The instant hot water in the kitchen and bathrooms was greatly appreciated, as was the lighting in the principal bathroom for putting on makeup and getting ready each day.
Above all, the quaintness of the home, the gorgeous gardens and the quietness of the neighborhood gave us both the down time we needed to give our spirits and bodies a much-needed vacation from the daily stress of our lives.

Everything about this cozy comfortable mid-century home hit the mark for us. Starting with Frank Lloyd Wright inspired design and a delightful front garden. Mornings we were serenaded by woodpeckers and other birds in the garden. The back had a sweeping view of costal trees and the house made the most of its garden and forest views. Furnishings and beds were comfortable and the place very clean. It is a bit of a walk to downtown Carmel, sightseeing the adorable homes of Carmel were why we stayed there. Sanctuary Vacations made everything easy. We would stay here again.

the house and gardens were so lovely!
The house and gardens were so lovely we could spent the entire week relaxing in this home. But easy walking distance to the beach and town as well as driving distance to Pt Lobos and Monterey Bay Aquarium made local exploring delightful. Nice to return home for relaxed family meals.

the home was a perfect place for us!
The home was a perfect place for us - we wanted somewhere we could assimilate into the local community. It is larger than you think and we loved the open windows at both sides of the living area. The front yard was a particular favorite- we sat and drank our afternoon beverage while enjoying the sunset. The owners managing agent were extremely responsive- we had an issue with the bathroom (of our own making) and they fixed it within a couple of hours. A quiet and peaceful location that we will surely return to.

This property is on a quiet street with lush landscaped front & back yard areas. Home is cozy and charming. Kitchen and baths are dated but very well equipped. No complaints. Brandon @ Sanctuary even brought us all new bed pillows when we mentioned they were too soft!! The best service and attention from this company. Easy walk to town down Camino Del Monte to Junipero (takes you right to Vesuvio restaurant, park, Brunos deli etc).Carmel beach is the best! Will definitely return.

We recently enjoyed a few days at the Robert Jones house in Carmel. The size was perfect for two couples. We didn't cook at home but the kitchen seemed well equipped to do so. It's an older home but has been well maintained. The outdoor space is perfect for enjoying a beverage and a book.

We had an A+++ experience with sanctuary vacation rental at the Robert R. Jones House. The gardens were stunning and you could see the passion the owners have to this gem. Quietly neighbor was close to everything! And the customer service was top notch -- every request met, always checked in to see if we needed anything, lovely welcome gifts, and spotlessly clean.
